Afghan Women’s Testimonio as Narratives of Trauma and Resistance
Name of Author :
N. Ranjith Kumar
Abstract:
Afghan Womens Testimonio as Narratives of Trauma and Resistance intends to study self representation of trauma and oppression in the form of testimonios. With reference to select testimonios by Afghan women, the study focuses on the unprecedented brutality unleashed in Afghanistan under the first regime of the Taliban from 1996 to 2001. It also aims to analyze the discourse of resistance and resilience among the women in Afghanistan. This paper observes that women as represented in the select narratives are victims of institutional oppression legitimized by the institutions of state, religion, family and marriage.
