Gender Inconsistence in the Select Novels of Doris Lessing
Name of Author :
V.Chithra
Abstract:
Doris Lessing is the eleventh woman and the oldest person ever to receive the Nobel Prize in literature. The novels of Lessing present a powerful critique of the White capitalist patriarchal society that employs its various institutions of power, functioning together, to create an eternally inferior position for the Black people in Africa. Lessing interrogates the stereotypical representations of the Blacks and women and the resultant subordination that has continued for centuries since the days of colonization. She attempts to unearth the buried racial memories of the black race in Africa. Lessings novels present characters who are inescapably caught in the clutches of race, class and gender.
