New Criticism: Epitomising “difference” and positing itself to be “different.”
Name of Author :
Ankurima Das
Abstract:
The twentieth century, in general, and the mid-twentieth century, in general, saw the tremendous surge in various literary movements in the broader literary domain. There were theories competing with each other, theorists waging wars with one other not only to mark their presence felt but also to assert their difference from the other. Talking about difference, the beginning of the twentieth century saw the advent of a School of Thought, to be precise, called “formalism” which bore two significant branches, namely, Russian Formalism and Anglo-American Criticism or New Criticism.

difference, formality, literary theory, new criticism, scrutiny.
