Justice for Disabled, Social Inclusion and the Human Values: An Analysis in International and National Perspectives
Name of Author :
Dr Arun Kumar Singh
Abstract:
Disability is a human rights issue. People with disabilities face one or other form of discrimination. They are denied equal access to health care, employment, education, or political participation because of their disability. Sometimes Persons with disabilities are subject to violations of dignity like abuse, prejudice, or disrespect because of their disability. Some people with disability are denied autonomy, they are confined in institutions against their will. They are considered incompetent because of their disability. However, various rights have been provided them through international and national documents. Judiciary has also, from time to time, given positive interpretation for the welfare of disabled people. But still environmental and attitudinal barriers are experienced from the society. This environmental barrier can be removed but it is not easy to remove the attitudinal barrier.
