Personality Disorder in Amy Dunne A Psychological Interpretation of Gillian Flynns Gone Girl

Abstract:
Gillian Schieber Flynn, known for writing the thriller and mystery novels, wrote the popular crime thriller novel Gone Girl and made it achieve New York Times Best Seller list. Amy Elliott Dunne, wife of Nick Dunne. Amy pretends to be a Cool Girl, someone who becomes whatever the partner in her life wants her to be, and when she reveals her true personality is outraged when Nick pulls away. She is manipulative and vengeful and sees herself as the victim. She has met with Dissociate Personality Disorder. Primarily, dissociative disorders were the forms of hysteria, more common in women than men. Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis regarded dissociation to be a standard means from which the ego fight against unacceptable unconscious thoughts an expression of unconscious conflict. This paper tends to analyse the dimensions of Amy Dunnes Psychological disorder: Dissociation, Personalities, psychopath, narcissistic, Trauma and Childhood.
