Abstract:
India is well known for its ancient myths and Puranas. From time immemorial the ancient myths have been in the form of folklores and had its own interpretations according to the region and language. These puranas are very interesting and deals with Gods and Demons and also describe the religious rites and rituals and the triumph of good over evil. This article entitled Reimagining of Shiva Purana in Amish Tripathis The Shiva Trilogy is a retelling of Shivas stories to the present generation in the language and style that suits the contemporary world. Contemporary writing of Hindu mythology is a creative interpretation and the stories are analyzed, dissected, delved into ambiguous areas and derived meanings are corroborated by discussions and dialogues of readers, thinkers and academicians. The epics are reinterpreted in a way that makes them less godly and more human. The protagonists possess all human emotions, their struggles and battles may not always seem driven by higher purposes.
