Exploring the Portrayal of Women in Manju Kapurs Difficult Daughter

Abstract:
This study looks at how women are portrayed in Manju Kapurs book Difficult Daughter. Here, Manju Kapur, depicts a number of the main female characters experience tremendous growth, go through particular adversity, and create intricate connections. These individuals provide a rich tapestry of viewpoints and experiences on the changing roles of women in India after independence. The books post independence India setting offers a vivid backdrop for examining the diverse roles, identities, and difficulties faced by women at this time of profound societal upheaval. This paper looks into the complex personalities of the female protagonists and examines how they negotiate the traditional and contemporary facets of Indian culture through a close reading of the text.
