Abstract:
The present paper entitled Premchand‘s Illiteracy Wins over Enlightenment: Flaying the Armchair Nationalists aims to highlight how the educated feel ashamed before a lone illiterate filled with love for social beings. The story from the book =Famous Short Story from Premchand‘ is the translation from Hindi by J. C. Joshi, in which, a central figure, Thakur Darshan Singh, an old retired army man, sincerely takes a resolve to shoulder the responsibility of social service in front of the enlightened audience and the speaker whose speech on social harmony encourages him a lot from within.
