Employment Anxiety in Relation to Gender and Locality among the Students of Cluster University of Jammu

Abstract: Education is the process of facilitating learning, acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits and personal development. It is a continuous and lifelong process. On the whole, it contributes for preservation, purification and sublimation of students into higher and higher achievements. Employment is one of the biggest concerns across the globe and it is a biggest crisis in India also. The uncertainty related to the undertaken future created by the unemployment status has been an interesting area of research due to the caused impacts on human psychology and health. This fact is not only reflected by only the uncertainty of securing an adequate supply for basic life needs, but also for ensuring a level of decency, self esteem, and self realization. Employment is considered as a source of chronic diseases also. Unemployment not only impacts the unemployed students but it also affects the University or college going students who are in their study phase. Here, the student may have various concerns related to future employment uncertainty and the fear of ending unemployed. In fact, unemployment is recorded to be one of the factors causing stress, depression and anxiety among students. The investigator realized the importance of employment and the stress and anxieties associated with the problem of unemployment. Therefore, she took this problem for research in order to determine the Employment Anxiety in relation to gender and locality among the students of Cluster University of Jammu. The research was carried out using the quantitative research methodology. Simple random sampling technique was employed for the collection of data of 200 PG students of Cluster University of Jammu. In the present study, the investigator has used the statistical technique Two way ANOVA. The results showed that there is no significant difference in the employment anxiety among the students of Cluster University of Jammu on the basis of gender (male and female) and locality (rural and urban) has been found. There is no significant difference in the employment anxiety among the students of Cluster University of Jammu on the basis of interactional effect of gender (male and female) and locality (rural and urban).
