Study of Challenges and Prospects of Science Instructions at Secondary Level in Public Schools of Pakistan

Abstract:
The main purpose of this research was to examine the challenges of science instructions at secondary level in public schools of Pakistan. The present study was descriptive in nature. The population was consisted of all science students of secondary level in Lahore. Proportionate sampling technique was used to select the sample. The sample was comprised of 330 secondary science students from the public schools of Lahore. Questionnaire was developed to measure the challenges and prospects of science instructions at secondary level in public schools of Lahore. Frequencies, percentage and t-test were applied by using MS Excel 2010 and SPSS-17 on the collected data. The secondary students have challenges and prospects in teachers? role in the classroom evaluation system and facilities in laboratory. It is recommended to train teachers about application of modern teaching methodologies and strategies so that they might motivate students to learn in effective environment. It is also recommended to provide laboratory to both science teachers and students in order to make progress in the field of science.
