Metro Bound: Understanding The Causes of Migration to Delhi NCR
Name of Author :
Deeksha Yadav
Abstract:
Migration is the term used to describe a shift in a persons typical place of residence from one defining region to another due to a variety of social, political, and economic factors. The rate of migration has decreased or at least stabilized in urban states like Delhi and migrants are settling in the national capital region (NCR), which has nominal real estate prices. Nonetheless, Delhi remains a desirable location for many people looking for work because of its improved educational and career prospects, among other factors. This implies that population mobility has been significantly impacted by socioeconomic shifts over the past ten years. In addition to identifying factors that contribute to migration and their respective relationships with the dependent variable migration, this research attempts to identify the numerous causes for migration in Delhi and their separate contributions over the last decade. There are two categories of factors: economic and non-economic. One measure of economic factors is employment, which is the number of individuals working in the private sector. People migrated to Delhi in order to earn enough money to meet their basic necessities, which they could not meet while remaining in their home region, as a result of the increase in private sector employment prospects during the 2014–2024 period. It gives residents of other states the chance to give their kids higher- quality education. There is still room to examine the quality of education and employment in various states in relation to migration to Delhi.
