Unveiling Secrets: The Role of Hidden Truths in Character Development in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s Oleander Girl
Name of Author :
Nixson. B. & Dr. E. Anita
Abstract:
This article investigates the role of concealed facts as a main narrative and psychological tool in Chitra Banerjee Divakarunis Oleander Girl, hence shaping the evolution of important characters and propelling the story ahead. Using a thorough examination of the protagonist Korobi Roys path from cultural conformity to self actualisation, the paper emphasises the transforming potential of hidden histories and their final exposure. Korobis discovery of her mixed background and her following transatlantic search for her fathers identity call into question her strongly held views on race, family, and belonging.
