Re-imagining the Yakshi Myth of Kerala
Name of Author :
Neetha Prasad
Abstract:
Every landscape is permeated with memory in all its varied manifestations. The expression of these manifestations are created and transcended across generations to come. The memory of a landscape becomes the memory of the society of which it is part of. Thus geographical landscapes become landscapes of memory too and it is this memory that enriches the cultural experience and history of a particular society. The society of Kerala is no different. The State of Kerala is on India’s Malabar coast and was formed on November 1, 1956 following the passage of the State Reorganisation Act, by combining Malayalam speaking regions of the erstwhile states of Travancore – Cochin and Madras. The beautiful landscape of Kerala carries a long history of both colonial and pre-colonial era
