Dogmatic Marxist Theorisation and Indigenous Struggles Arguing for a Revitalisation
Name of Author :
Suddhabrata Deb Roy
Abstract:
The relationship between Marxist theory and Indigenous struggles has always been, more or less, a contentious one, at times, a result of the romanticised conceptualisation of indigenous ways of life being either completely egalitarian or completely feudal by Marxist theorists. Another major cause of the ambiguity is the perennial fetishism among many Marxists to reduce all forms of contradictions to economic ones, upon which the model of base and superstructure1 can be superimposed without much complexity. This shying away from complex social structures contributes towards the ambiguous and at times, hostile relationship, between Marxism and Indigenous struggles.
