Exploring the Condition of Women and Their Education in the State of Jammu and Kashmir (1901-1925)

Abstract:
The study about women and their struggle through the ages now became the focal area of study in the discipline of humanities and social sciences. In the human history their condition was almost same in the all the geographical areas of the world and same is the case with region of Jammu and Kashmir. This region was ruled by Dogra rulers from AD 1846-1947 and like others princely States, this Jammu and Kashmir was also educationally and economically backward. An attempt has been made in this paper to understand the position of women and steps taken by Christian missionaries between, AD 1901-1925.
