Domestic Violence: The Present Impact of the Pandemic amid Covid-19 Situation

Abstract: Domestic violence against women is highly prevalent worldwide whether it is in the developed or underdeveloped countries. Violence against women remain a global issue all over the world and it needs to be addressed and appropriate steps by the authorities and legislative bodies need to be taken. The health impact of violence against women particularly intimate partner/domestic violence on women and their children are significant. Violence against women can result in many serious injuries such as physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health problems which includes sexually transmitted infections, HIV and unplanned pregnancies. Intimate partner violence is the most common form of violence and 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence by the perpetrators in their lifetime.
