Attitude towards Homosexuals among Young Adults, Kerala

Abstract: Despite a society that is moving forward in acceptance of differences, many young people still maintain uncomfortable and confused attitudes towards non-heterosexual lifestyles. As a result, Homosexual individuals continue to be ostracized and oppressed by the main stream society in various facets of lives. The current study investigates the attitude of college students in Kerala towards homosexuals. The study followed a quantitative approach with descriptive research design. The respondents were identified using simple random sampling. The data was collected from 60 students from the age group of 18-24 using through a questionnaire. The study revealed that the participants had a positive attitude towards homosexuals which is an indication of the social progress among the young adults of Kerala. The study has implications in research, academics, practice and in policy making.
