Name of Author :

Abstract:
There are several influences that shape how we view men and women, out of which media is the most persuasive and mighty. Being at the most modern age gives us the opportunity to see through and be a part of the same. Through this paper, I propose to study and analyze the role and impact of women comedians who has made their trade mark around the world. Media being gendered to an extent, comedy is a tough task for women. The difficulty level rises even more for a woman who does standup comedy. This paper tends to celebrate the hardships and the immense popularity that they gain with time. My main focus is on women comedians in films as well as in the television industry. It also tries to examine the not so funny facts in the comedy business and also the need of more women to represent them in the mainstream.
