Articulating the Feminist Aesthetics in Anita Rau Badami’s The Hero’s Walk

Abstract:
The traditional philosophy of Aesthetics; that deals with the questions of beauty and artistic taste are largely conceived from a male perspective, disregarding the female perceptions, experiences and tastes. Feminist Aesthetics, an offshoot of feminist criticism make attempts to examine and reconceptualise the fundamental notions of Aesthetics, incorporating the female sensitivity. The paper explores the depiction of women characters in Anita Rau Badami‟sThe Hero’s Walk in the light of Feminist Aesthetics as the author approaches the everyday realities of women, endorsing the female experience.
