The other gender: Language and Gender Stereotypes
Name of Author :
Balaka Halder
Abstract:
Gender has an impact on linguistic behaviour because it influences other factors that have a significant effect on language structure. The way people use language is determined by their social network, their customary pursuits, their identities as specific types of people, and their social standing. Gender disparities, which are a feature of our culture, have the potential to affect the aforementioned things. The importance of language in civilisation cannot be overstated. Communication would have been impossible without language, and without communication, the progression of civilization would have been inconceivable. Language has progressed throughout the ages. The language we use to communicate in the current period is referred to as modern language. Even though this language is deemed current and the pinnacle of civilised language; it is ambiguous to many people. Apart from the diversity of languages spoken across continents, there is also linguistic discrimination based on gender identity.
