Abstract:
The theory of emotional intelligence was proposed by John Mayer and Peter Saloney in 1990. This theory helps to analyze the capability of individuals to recognize their own and interpret their people’s emotions. It is categorized into four major feelings, they are to understand emotions, reasoning, examine and to generate emotions. This theory states that the real success can be achieved when the heart and brain is accorded. It entails diverse knack to decipher issues. The novel Rich Like Us by Nayantara Sahgal is found to apply this particular theory in solving problems arising in the framework of its story.
