Interrogating Patriarchy in Mahesh Dattanis Final Solutions

Abstract:
This paper is to discuss about the pains and suffering of Female as for portrayed by Mahesh Dattani in Final Solutions. He has beautifully portrayed the issues of Women facing miserable conditions in the contemporary Indian society like patriarchy and gender discrimination. He has brightly presented this subordinate status of woman in Indian society. A patriarchal society is perfectly portrayed by Dattani in Final Solutions where the male members behave as autocratic rulers and take all the important decisions of the family. In Final Solutions, Dattani has presented Hardika as the victim of gender discrimination which is the most apparent and typical issue in India. This play about communal riots in India and subordination of women who belong to three significant times in the history of India. Daksha or Hardika belongs to three pre-independence period: Aruna, her daughter in law, belongs to independence period; and Smita Arunas daughter, is a contemporary, post-independence Indian woman. The preference for the character of Hardika in Final Solutions focus on the pitiable conditions of women with the male society and with misunderstand and also suffering from lost identify.
