Name of Author :
Annie D
Abstract:
The post war American society has been portrayed in plentiful literary works of the American authors and J.D. Salinger is one among them. J D Salingers Franny and Zooey is of significance due to its representation of one of the most dominant discourses of the period, the isolated youth. The wars inflicted an intrinsic wound, upon the members of the society and the permanent sense of isolation in relation with the world around. Salingers works focus on the idea of the individuals isolation and encounter with hostile circumstances as civilization develops. The materialism and inhumanity around Salingers protagonists make them constantly sick. He identifies isolation from the sense of loneliness, desperation and lack of love. His work describes isolated as well as troubled youth and solution to these problems is invariably suggested by actions of love.
