Abstract:
The Upanishads, a collection of ancient Indian texts, are renowned for their profound philosophical and spiritual teachings. Among the central themes discussed in the Upanishads, the concept of Atman holds a significant place. Atman, often translated as self or soul, is a central concept in understanding the nature of reality, the self, and the ultimate purpose of human life. This research article delves into the concept of Atman as presented in the Upanishads, examining its origins, evolution, and the impact it has had on Indian philosophy and spirituality. Through a comprehensive exploration of selected Upanishads and scholarly interpretations, this article aims to shed light on the profound understanding of the self or Atman in the Upanishadic tradition.
