Abstract: The first and foremost objective of this article is to bringing out identity crisis in Anita Desai’s Bye- Bye Blackbird and fire on the mountain. In this novel the characters that endeavour to perceive their self are depicted consequently. It portrays the characters of the novel and how they endure through the identity crisis. The Indian novel in English is consequently characterized by a diversity of themes and abilities.
