Abstract: This research paper would attempt to critically examine the implications of homonormativity by analysing the process of LGBTQ+ assimilation and its sociopolitical consequences. Although substantial progress has been made in advancing LGBTQ+ rights and recognition, it should be noted that the concept of homonormativity attempts to challenge the very notion that to attain equality, conforming to existing social norms and structures is required.
