A Brief Study on Familial Bonding through Women in Rohinton Mistry’s Family Matters.

Abstract:
Rohinton Mistry is an award winning Indian born Canadian fiction writer. All of his works are praised for its way and theme of writing. Most of his works are based on the problems faced by the Indian families and particularly about the Mumbai Persians. He throws light on the themes of familial bond and relationship in his novels. The family is the primary unit of all society and in which women plays the major role in building strong basement on familial bonding. In his novel, Family Matters he brings out the family relationship along with parent and children bond. And he also sketched well on how some of the characters struggle to build the bond and how some of the characters try to break it intentionally. Mistry has written it in a realistic way that when one reads the novel can relate it with his/her own life. This presentation is much concentrated on the two phases of women characters. The woman, who tries to build the familial bond and the other puts much effort in an evil way to break it.
