Mass Media and Disasters: Enhancing Panic or Preventing it
Name of Author :
D.R. Persis Mahima
Abstract:
Media is the reflection of our society and it depicts what and how society works.Mass media has a significant impact on our society. Bryant and Zillman defined media effects as the social, cultural, and psychological impact of communicating via the mass media. As we are living in an era of digitalization and information technology is progressively growing, we are using websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc. Social media is a phrase that we throw around a lot these days, often to describe what we post on sites and apps like Facebook, Twitter etc. The term is used so vaguely that it can basically be used to describe almost any website on the internet today.
