The Poumai Naga Feast of Merit

Abstract:
The Poumai Naga Feast of Merit is a feast offered by the wealthy couple to the whole village or surrounding villages to acquire a social status in the society. There are around eight stages to be climbed though most people manage to perform just two or three. The different stages are Mouzii, prayer for the blessing of seeds, Zhosou; feast of honour, Kiveisou, building a horned house, Thouzi, distribution of paddy, Chukho kho, construction of the patios, Zhomea, plantation of second monolith, Lesho; plantation of a monolith and a tree sapling near the house, and finally Chizio, distribution of dried pork to the village.
