Abstract:
Woman plays a pivotal role in society as a mother, the birth-giver. God has made her highly tolerant and deeply devoted, dedicated and affectionate. Her role is remarkable in species reproduction which has made her definitely dominant and adorable. Mahasweta Devi, a popular Indian story teller whose short stories paint the picture of the narrative of the untold, unheard and unspoken story of a marginalized woman in the present tribal social scenarios. To construct and create an authentic and real narrative, she moves into the hidden, hard and harsh living conditions of these poor unfortunate marginalized masses. She is able to connect herself with the roots, which in a way helps understand the grassroot circumstances of these people. The present endeavour considers the four major popular stories of Mahasweta Devi, Breast Giver, Dhouli, Shanichari and Chinta. In all is witnessed, the womens marginalized position, burdened with, suppression and sorrow yet the society discards her any recognition.
