Tracing the History of Homosexuality in India: From Ancient, Medieval to the Present Times
Name of Author :
K Rupa Shree, Dr. N Gayathri
Abstract:
This paper exclusively focusses on the upliftment of homosexuality particularly, in the Indian context. During the British colonization, people underwent many issues in India. One among is that homosexual people have been marginalized, harassed and prejudiced by the non-homosexual groups of the society. They existed as a sexual minority community and their struggles are always invisible among the broad societal conditions. The different perceptions on homosexuality and homosexuals from ancient times, to British colonial India until present times have been analysed. Hence, this paper tries to explore the progression / degression of homosexuality in India.
