Digital Competence – An Essential Life Skill for Teachers

Abstract: In this digital era, technology occupies everywhere, especially in schools. Now a day children are born with technology and they easily know the ways of operating the devices like smart phone and laptop. This is the challenge for the teachers to teach with technical devices. They should be aware of digital tools and its uses. In order to teach effectively they should acquire certain skill related to technology. To integrate innovative teaching methods in classroom, they continuously update their knowledge with new trends. Moreover present education system definitely changes into smart education where the teachers play an important role in guiding students to learn confidently with digital applications or platforms eg. Edmodo, google meet. Digital competence is essential life skill for teachers to work or to give active participation in society. Digital competence is the set of knowledge, skills and attitudes that should be acquired by all people in order to ensure critical and creative use of ICT and digital media for the purpose of achieving goals related to work, learning and/or leisure. There are five vital skills, information, communication, content creation, safety and problem solving; along with these skills the teacher can make teaching – learning process more effective, creative and innovative.
