An Introspection on Motherhood and Sisterhood in Mitali Perkins Tiger boy

Abstract:
Mitali Perkins is a renowned children’s author who have contributed more than ten novels to the literary world. Perkins’s applauded work Tiger Boy which was published in the year 2015 received the South Asia Book Award. Tiger Boy is the story of a young boy Neel who resides in the island of Sundarbans. As the novel progresses Neel learns that a tiger cub has escaped from the tiger reserve. Neel takes up the adventure to find the little cub before the cruel money minded Gupta. Neel with Rupa his sister finds the tiger cub and witnesses the reunion of the little cub with its mother. Tiger Boy deals with the courage and perseverance of a little boy and highlights nature as a part of everyman’s life. This paper focuses on highlighting motherhood and sisterhood in Mitali Perkins’s Tiger Boy
