Reproach of Infecundity- A Study of Manju Kapurs Home and Custody
Name of Author :
Ratna M, Dr. M P Anuja
Abstract:
In relation to Manju Kapurs Home and Custody, this paper focuses on the humiliation associated with women in India who are considered infertile. According to Indian culture, women are assigned several roles to fulfil, such as daughter, wife, and mother, instead of being thought of as individuals with a head and a heart. In the sake of tradition, women are frequently targeted and detained. In India, where infertility affects both a wife and a husband, women are exalted for their motherliness, while the same country stigmatizes or denigrates exclusively women for it. Women are expected by society to accept, modify, and make lifelong sacrifices for the sake of their family. In India more so than in other nations, it is very persistent. Women who are barren are the victims in Manju Kapurs novels. The author specifically discusses how infertility traumatizes women in her works.
