From Under a Bushel, Set On a Lamp Stand: Transformation of Angel in Francine Riverss Redeeming Love
Name of Author :
N Prasheeba, Dr. M Leema Rose
Abstract:
The story of Angel, the protagonist in Francine Riverss Redeeming Love, is the story of tornadoes of suffering, harrowing struggles and incredible triumph. Traumatic events in her childhood and their distressing impact on her psyche are followed by her redemption that elevates her to be a light on the rock. Angels childhood is marked by loss of dear ones, sexual abuse and physical violence. She develops posttraumatic symptoms and is battered by relentless battle in her mind. She is redeemed with the support of a number of positive forces, and through a tough and prolonged process regains her sanity and inner strength. The liberated Angel lets her light shine in the lives of women and children who undergo traumatic experiences. Once she regains her lost identity, her life attains a definite purpose, and the victim becomes the victor.
