Pandemic in the 21st Century: Sector Specific Experiences
Name of Author :
Dr. Neeru Sidana
Abstract:
Pandemics can be defined as contagious disease outbreaks that can result in huge disruptions- be it political, social, or economical. In the past 100 years, several factors have led to a higher risk of pandemics in the world; these factors can be seen as modernization and urbanization, overuse of our available natural resources, and highly globalized trade and lifestyle (Jones et al., 2008; Morse, 1995). Researchers and policymakers have attempted to gain in-time identification and assessment of emerging catalysts, and further try to limit their outbreak (Smolinsky et al., 2003). Plans have also been in motion with the aim to expand and maintain infrastructural capabilities in healthcare.
